How To Read Guitar Tabs - Tab Symbols

Learning tab symbols is important to learning how to read guitar tabs. In this free lesson I'll show Half Step Bend, Whole Step Bend, Slight Bend, Bend & Release and Pre Bend. Check out the rest of the Tab Symbols pages to learn what the other symbols mean.

 

half bend   Half Step Bend - Pick the note and bend up 1/2 step.


 

whole step bend   Whole Step Bend - Pick the note and bend up 1 step.


 

slight bend   Slight Bend - Pick the note and bend up 1/4 step.


 

bend and release   Bend & Release - Pick the note and bend up as shown, then release back to the original note.


 

pre bend   Pre Bend - Bend the note as shown and then pick the note.
