Lead Guitar Lessons - Finger Tapping
Learn finger tapping with this free lead guitar lesson. Finger Tapping is when you hammer or "tap" the fret indicated with your pick hand index or middle finger and the immediately pull off. The next note is already fretted by your fret hand. Practice this first on an electric guitar because it will be easier. Finger Tapping lets you play things that you couldn't play using just your pick.
Figure 1 - Finger Tapping
In this finger tapping exercise place your fret hand on the 2nd fret and leave it there. Then tap the 9th fret with your pick hand and immediately release. Hammer on the 5th fret and repeat. Remember to keep your fret hand on the 2nd fret through out this finger tapping exercise.

Here's an AC/DC style finger tapping exercise. This time you don't need to fret any notes with your fret hand while tapping. Check out the Guitar Riffs page for more AC/DC style riffs.
